In this you will be shown a map or model which will have few problems generally four problems. You’ll be asked to first write down your solution and then discuss it with group members and come up with a group solution to all the problems.
This task will be completed in 4 steps:-
1) GTO will explain you details of model very slowly but only once. These details will include different area and their names and what different colours signify like:-
a)Blue – water bodies
b)Red thick line – permanent/pakka road
c)Double dotted red line – kutcha motorable road
d)Single dotted red line – pagdandi/path only for walking or running
e)Light green – fields and vegetation
f)Dark green – forests
g)Brown – hills
Other details include name of village/city, their distance from finishing line shown in model, railway track and different structures shown in the model.
Try to get all details of model and once it’s explained, clarify doubts, if any.
2) GTO will read out a story related to the model shown to you. The story will have few problems and you need to solve all those problems. After reading the story, you’ll be given the story to read individually for five minutes and then it’ll be collected back. You’ll not be allowed to make any note of details in story. Listen the story carefully and try to get fix it in your mind every detail about nature of problems, place of their happening what facilities are given and distance of places where problem will occur. So, when you read the story yourself, at the end of 5 minutes you’ll be ready with your solution. You are free to assume realistic things that are not mentioned in story.
3) You’ll be given 10 minutes to write down your individual solution to all the problems and then it’ll be collected. In the story it’ll be mentioned that you are on the way for something else when you encountered these problems. So, after solving all the problems, your entire group must continue with that. While writing your solution, first you should prioritize all the problems. Your priority should be as such:-
a)If someone’s life is at risk/met with an accident/is bleeding.
b)If mass destruction/damage to government or national property may happen.
c)If any group problem like smuggling/stealing.
Your priority doesn’t mean the sequence of solving the problems. It only means the weightage you give to different problems. You must divide your group into smaller sub-groups and solve all the problems simultaneously. In the story number of members in group will not be mentioned. Always assume size of group equal to your group present there.
Your solution must include:-
a)How many of you will go.
b)Where they will go.
c)How they will go.
d)What they will do.
e)Distance and time.
4) The group will be given 15 minutes to discuss their solution and arrive at a group solution. Then, one of you will be asked to narrate the group solution to entire group. This will be the end of this task.
a)Support your solution but also accept if anybody gives better solution. Be flexible.
b)Do not agree to give group solution until your group has arrived at one.
c)Even if one giving group solution speaks his own solution or different from one decided by the group, do not intervene in middle or disagree with him. Co-operate. GTO knows who is doing what.
d)After narration of group story is finished, GTO may ask if this is your group story say yes whatever may be the story narrated. You may also be asked if you want to add or delete something. Please refrain from it and accept whatever is already narrated as group story.
e)Always refer as “we” not as “I” while writing or giving your solution.
** Never send anybody alone. Send at least 2 members of group together and send all members of group to somewhere or the other.
